Following are some main functions of this department:-

(a) To register the names of ex-servicemen for employment and forward their names to various departments as per 15% reserved vacancies there in, and to check the roster registers maintained in the various departments.
|
(b) To provide assistance to Award Winners in getting their cash award/ annuity/ cash in lieu of land.
|
(c) Provide assistance in getting oldage pension @ of Rs.330/- p.m. to the ex-servicemen and their widows above 60 years of age and having no pension with an annual income below Rs.11,000/- per annum.

(d) To provide FA to 2nd World War Veterans/ their widows (Non pensioners) @ of Rs.500/- p.m.
|
(e) To provide help in getting War Jagir to those parents, whose one, two or more sons have served in the Armed Forces during National Emergencies.
|
(f) To provide scholarships to the children of ex-servicemen and financial assistance to the blind and disabled ex-servicemen from H.P. Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Fund.
|
(g) To provide ex-gratia grant to the families of Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled in Army operations.
|
(h) To re-address the grievances of ex-servicemen, widows, war widows and serving soldiers.
|
(i) Disseminating information to the general public regarding the Armed forces in the country and for taking measures to enhance interest in Armed Forces amongst the general public.
|
(j) Submit the KSB report for claiming the 50 percent charges for establishment expenditure of RSB and ZSBs of the state.
|
(k) Maintain upto date status of ESMs, disabled ESMs, widows and dependents.
|
(l) Ensure timely submission of reports and returns to Sect. SWD/DGR and KSB.
